ISAM 2026 Spring Educational Conference – 50th Anniversary Celebration
May 16, 2026 – May 23, 2026
On May 19, 2026, at the 50th Annual Spring Conference, ISAM honored Bridget Thomas, RN MSN, our Executive Secretary and Travel Coordinator for decades. She served ISAM in many roles and was instrumental in keeping the organization going in its infancy. We had a bronze plaque made that will be permanently displayed at the Anse Chastanet reef restoration garden and research center.
In 2001, Mrs. Thomas was inducted into the Women Diver Hall of Fame for her efforts with ISAM. WDHOF LINK
Bridget Thomas, RN, MSN and friend to ISAM for decades. ISAM owes Bridget a great deal of gratitude for her leadership and support over the past decades.
Bridget’s loyaty to her members was unsurpassed and she always advocated for high quality medical education in each conference she administered. Generations of divers are safer and more knowledgable because of Bridget.

The Society offers unique opportunities to dive in exotic places and at the same time obtain knowledge, competence and improvement of patient care while earning CME credit. Our programs focus on Recreational Dive Medicine including topics of hyperbaric medicine, diving safety, treatment of venomous animal stings and bites, travel medicine and diagnosis and treatment of decompression illness.
Our annual spring meetings are typically held in the Caribbean area, and it is at that meeting most of our members attend. AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM or AAFP Prescribed Credits have been offered. Twice a year smaller groups venture to even more distant locales such as Fiji, Indonesia, Palau, the Maldives, as well as other dive sites in the Caribbean. On each of our smaller trips we have an instructor to provide stimulating conversations and lectures pertinent to diving. The smaller meetings offer the opportunity to claim Elective CME Credits.

Our Founder
Michael D. Rosco, mason, US Army Captain, Doctor, and avid SCUBA diver founded our organization, the International Society of Aquatic Medicine in 1975 as a way to merge his passion for SCUBA diving and medical education. With members from every state and multiple countries, annual meetings and dive trips to the Caribbean, Indonesia, Fiji, and beyond – we owe our success and gratitude to our founder Dr. Rosco!
