coco5Escape to Cocos Island a lush, green uninhabited island resting 300 miles off Costa Rica’s Pacific coast. Rocky pinnacles surrounding Cocos are beacons for big animals and big action. Schooling hammerheads, countless white-tip sharks, mantas, tuna and even whale sharks call Cocos home. Weather permitting, Okeanos guests are shuttled ashore to hike through the jungles of Cocos and swim in her many waterfalls. Ten-day trips are Tuesday to Friday with seven days of diving. The Okeanos sets off from the port town of Punteranas. Transfers from San Jose are provided on the day of departure. An overnight stay is required in San Jose prior to the charter.

The price of the trip is $5095.00, which does not include the park fee as this cost varies and we will have to wait until 2010 to determine the park fee in place at that time. The payment is due by check a 3.5% charge will be added for use of a credit card.

The trip is September 14-24,2010. You will arrange your international flights into San Jose, Costa Rica to arrive on September 13, 2010 and depart after 12 noon on the 24th. We will overnight in San Jose on the night of September 13 and transferred to Punteranas on the 14th. I am quite excited about returning to the “ high voltage “ diving of Cocos Islands !

Okeanos Aggressor Dive Sites

Sites are selected by the Captain and may vary due to weather conditions and location.

Alcyone: Abundant sea life makes this site one of the island’s signature dives. Mantas, Whitetipped Sharks, Whale Sharks, Silky Sharks, Blacktipped Sharks, and hundreds of schooling Hammerheads, are everywhere. An underwater plateau, discovered by Cousteau when he visited Cocos Island, is home to a variety of sharks.

Dirty Rock: Located near Wafer Bay, Dirty Rock is an impressive and exciting dive, noted as one of our guests’ favorites. Whale Sharks are often sighted here, and Dirty Rock is perhaps best known for the hundreds of Marble Rays and huge schools of Jacks that can be seen here. Aswim through one of the schools is definitely worth the trip!

Dos Amigos Grande y Pequeña are two of Cocos Island’s best known dive sites. In the southern part of Cocos, these two islands showcase the excitement that only Cocos Island can deliver. Dos Amigos Grande is better known for its huge arch, a swim-through so big that an entire diving group can move through it at the same time. Marble Rays swimming among divers, Eagle Rays feeding or mating, and schooling Hammerheads are typical scenarios at this memorable dive site.

Dos Amigos Pequeña is another fantastic dive, where you can see Manta Rays, big Silkys and Galapagos Sharks. Huge Yellow Fin Tuna are often seen swimming out in the deep blue.

Manuelita is awesome, offering a variety of diving experiences all at the same location! In the shallow area, you can see hundreds of Whitetipped Sharks during the night dives. Cleaning stations allow divers to come face-to face with schools of Hammerheads. Schools of Snappers and Jacks are everywhere. And in the deeper area, hiding places abound for divers wanting to watch all the action. A magical dive, day or night! Nitrox is highly recommended when diving Cocos Island. Schooling Hammerheads, Mantas, Dolphin, Marlin, Whale Sharks, Marble Rays, Whitetipped Sharks… Cocos is an abundant Land of Giants.
